Tiffany oh Tiffany....oh where have you been?? Update...

So,  as mentioned before, I am in the military....life got a little busy, My children started their professional acting and modeling careers, I was moved to a different location by the army, and now I am being medically retired from the army...but I did do some shooting in-between! I take my own children's headshots for acting. I have also decided to change my degree program from psychology to...wait for it....PHOTOGRAPHY! I will be attending brooks institute in beautiful Santa Barbara in the very near future. I figure that if my self taught skills can get me a small business, what can happen when I am formally educated?? I am beyond excited to begin school and explore things such as underwater photography, master studio lighting (although I prefer natural lighting, on location), get into some fashion and landscape. So stay tuned as I go through this new adventure. I will be posting about projects in which I will need models and such.  Here are a few recent of my most faithful models!

A few more sessions and investing in my business

So I have had a few more sessions since the last. This was definitely a fun shoot. Young Chris wan solo uninterested in taking photos, or smiling at all. To alleviate his momma's frustration, I stepped back and just captured the essence of who he is.

I also realized the importance of growing and investing in my craft.  I have also purchased a Canon Speedlite and a prime lens to grow my business and improve the quality of my images. I am needing to figure out a way to market my business to get the word out. Word of mouth doesn't seem to be cutting it, so I have to get creative.

Playing with some editing

I was looking at some of my photos and I thought to myself, " I really want the eyes of my subject to come to life more." So I started playing around with my editing software and came up with a way to slightly alter the eyes to make them pop a bit. I think it will work even better with a light eyed subject, but I of course have been practicing on my own kids' photos. Here's a look at what I have done so far....too much? Or should I bump it up some more?

Beginning a Journey

So....I have decided to embark upon a journey and thought it would be great to blog about it. I have been at this photography thing for a few years now, but recently decided to take it more serious and turn it into a small business. Many people have asked me to take pictures for them, but I never really took it too serious for some reason. I got to thinking....good memories are the single most important and precious gift to a child, or a person of any age, really, and I want to help preserve those memories.

So, I contemplated for a while how to go about getting the ball rolling. I have tons of photos of my own 2 children, who are beautiful models for me( they really don't much of a choice ha!) but I need more than practicing on my own kids. So I started telling my co-workers that I was going to start a photography business and would love to capture their families enjoying being a family.

Being that I am a full-time Soldier, I have to make sure my passion does not interfere with my duty to my country....there lies the balance issue. Hmmmm....I guess I will just have see where this goes!  A few shots of my beautiful kids. It's seems almost a cheat to practice on such beautiful models!
